  Program

Program

Day 1:

We meet in the lodge's courtyard and enjoy a good dinner with local produce, before reviewing the coming days.

Day 2:

We start the day with transport up to Haustdalen, an eldorado for mountain biking in Alvdal Vestfjell. Here there will be long, beautiful slopes, summit passages, mountain paths and mountain villages before we have a descent of over 500 meters directly from the mountain down to the valley. There we are picked up and transported up to the mountain on the other side, where we make the last bit up to the top before a fantastic descent down to the farmhouse at the end of the day. With a formidable view, we enjoy a three-course dinner in a homely environment.

Distance: 25 km
Altitude: 800 meters up, 1300 meters down

Day 3:

We start the day with high energy and make our way via a lovely descent from the mountain down to the valley as a warm-up. Our transport is waiting there to take us back to the mountains and to the Savalen Fjellhotell og spa. The journey offers a fantastic view along a traverse that follows the sea Savalen, before we finally ride along the spectacular descent from the mountain Gråvola. At the front of the hotel, we end the day with a refreshing dip in the spa pool and a panoramic view of the Savalen. In the evening, a delicious dinner based on local produce is served.

Distance: 22 km
Altitude: 600 meters up, 1000 meters down

Day 4:

The last day begins with a small car transport in the direction of Alvdal and a bicycle tour that offers coniferous forest, high mountains, large slopes, spectacular views from Brandvålsberget and not least the fantastic mountain Sten. Sten is one of the finest cycling mountains in the region and what better way to end the ride than this descent?! The bike ride ends where we started – in the lodge's courtyard.

Distance: 22 km
Altitude: 600 meters up, 1000 meters down

Area

Trail cycling in Alvdal, Folldal and Tynset

Most of our tours take us to the fantastic scenery of Rondane's nearby areas. Trail cycling in Alvdal, Folldal and Tynset is characterized by a unique combination of mountain bike and conifer trails. The mountain areas are made for cycling, with mountains steep enough for great downhill cycling, but at the same time not higher than most peaks can be reached from the bike saddle. Weather-wise, the area is among the driest in Norway, well protected by both Rondane and Jotunheimen. This means mostly dry paths and relatively small marshes. In addition, you will find Mt.Tron, with Norway's second highest road in Alvdal, which provides a unique starting point for downhill cycling. The area is also one of Norway's most active mountain landscapes, and most of the trails we use are old roads to the mountain farms. In addition, there has been extensive mining, especially in Folldal and Tynset, and this provides a unique trail network in the mountainous areas.

Difficulty

Medium

These are tours for you who have good control over the bike on relatively technical trails. You can handle obstacles such as roots and rocks up to 10-12 cm high, and you find it okay to ride uphill with some challenges and obstacles.

You must be able to cycle between 4 and 6 hours every day, for several days, at a moderate pace with some breaks. You handle climbs with cycling of up to 600 meters every day.

(Levels: 5-6 skill level, 4-6 fitness level)

See hardship reference form here.

Transport

The areas where we arrange tours are halfway between Trondheim and Oslo, and with the proximity of both the rørosbanen and the dovrebanen, we recommend everyone to choose the green option and take the train! On this trip there is the possibility of train transport to and from Hjerkinn from both Trondheim and Oslo. We have rental bikes specially selected for the tours we arrange for you who want to rent equipment. Kvebergsøya Gård is located between Oslo and Trondheim and you can drive either E6 or Rv3. For those who have time, we highly recommend driving the Rondane National Tourist Route!

Night

All accommodation is basically in double rooms. Some nights when we stay at farms and farm houses there will only be multi-person rooms available. If you want a single room, there may be an additional charge.

Equipment

We recommend full suspension mountain bikes on all our trips, and we have rental bikes that are specially selected for the trips we arrange. We send out suggestions for packing lists before each trip. The packing list is indicative and cannot be seen as a complete list. We take no responsibility for any errors, defects or misprints in packing lists.
